Etta James' At Last! is a classic album of sultry romantic ballads is awesome for a dinner in or to just relax playing GTA IV. Kidding aside, this music has some serious mojo and you'd do well to add this to a Marvin Gaye/Al Green playlist. Music this great isn't made any longer with such sincerity as today's music for this feel tends to be over produced and the over EQ's strings and winds chimes only distract from the mood they are trying to convey: intimacy...seems I'm going off on a tangent here. $2.99, today only.

I have been hitting the wonderful "F-word" hard for the past couple of days, but leave it to Musician's Friend to actually take it seriously.

The Best of the Talking Heads is a greatest hits/retrospective from one of Pop's most creative bands. I've always likened them to Radiohead in the 80's: biting social commentary with wit and depth in, but instead, went to a much poppier route than the introspective Radiohead. If you already like the Talking Heads, you can always go with the full retrospective double-length album Sand in the Vaseline for $15.99.

Here's a great description fromthe Wikipedia entry:

"The avant-garde musical style of Talking Heads combined elements of punk rock, new wave, pop, funk, world music and art rock. Frontman and songwriter David Byrne contributed whimsical, esoteric lyrics to the band's songs, and emphasized their showmanship through various multimedia projects and performances. Critic Stephen Thomas Erlewine describes Talking Heads as being "one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the '80s, while managing to earn several pop hits."[1]"

Rolling Stone reviews, "The first thing you notice about Shania Twain's Come On Over, once you get past her pretty pictures on the cover, is how the titles have way too many exclamation points: "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" "Whatever You Do! Don't!" So does the music. Almost every high-gloss song opens with a bubblegum-glam cheerleader shout ("C'mon, girls!" "Cool!" "Kick it!" "Owww"), then blasts into radio-ready rapture with offhand vocal interjections – doot-doot-doot scatting, do-si-do rapping, sexy squeaks, sarcastic Alanis Morissette asides."

We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. is Mraz's latest release. Blender magazine critiques, "“I’m Yours,” the lead single on this meticulously premarketed CD, centers around a self-consciously simple “Look into your heart and you’ll find love, love, love.” “Details in the Fabric” inflates an empty bromide—“Hold your own, know your name, and go your own way”—with nearly six vague minutes of filigreed understatement. Five tracks are punched up with horns; two enlist choirs. Pondering his parents’ divorce or describing intricate and delicate sex acts, Mraz’s tasty tenor remains a modestly classy pleasure. But he’s lost crucial cool."

In this iconic video game series from Activision you face off against guitar icons like Slash of Guns N' Roses or Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine. Fight insane battles featuring original tracks recorded exclusively for Guitar Hero III.

Les Paul, the father of the electric guitar and multitrack recording, dressed in a thick, oatmeal-colored ribbed turtleneck sweater (and it's in the high-70s and humid on this June 3rd day), navy blue trousers and black loafers, and wearing wire rimmed aviator-style glasses, is doing a sound check at 6:00 p.m., before the first of his two shows every Monday night at the Iridium Club on Broadway and 51st in Manhattan.
